Obviously, 2008 was probably the worst season in memory. Recent news report put the catch at 50% of the previous year and reports from guides to old salts say that last year was el stinko!
What about this year? How will we get an indication of what this year will be like? Do we just have to rely on "old style" reports of how the fishing is in Massachusetts and Rhode Island? Isn't there a more definitive forecast from NMFS or NOAA or somebody out there tracking this stuff?
One of the theories about last year's decline was due to the water temperature in the Chesapeake. That's the kind of imperical evidence I am talking about.
If anyone has any knowledge of what we can expect this year, it would be GREAT to know it now. June is just around the corner and that is when I expect the Saco to start filling up with nice slots to arrive.
Come on Men!!! Let's get something going here and share the knowledge!!!
Thanks.

Here is the latest fishing report off of cape cod. They are just starting to show so we have some time yet before they make it up here. The last time I looked at the water temperature around here it was 47 degrees witch is honestly really warm for this time of year. Check out this link to read about the area just south of us...sounds like they are expecting the stripers to break any minute
